I’m Ekta Choudhary, the artist behind Ceramics by Nature. From my Georgia home studio, I bring together 3D CAD design, mold making, slipcasting, and hand-painting to create ceramics full of color and character.
Flowers, birds, and the small details of the natural world inspire my work. I want each piece to bring that sense of discovery to an everyday ritual—a morning coffee, an afternoon tea, or a quiet moment at home.
From an original design to a mug in your hands
The shape and the surface are both part of my work. For my mugs, the process begins with a design I create myself and continues through hands-on making and finishing.
01 · Design
Designed in 3D CAD
I design my mug mother molds in 3D CAD software, shaping the form and developing the details that give each design its identity.
02 · Form
My own plaster molds
From those designs, I make my own plaster molds and use them to slipcast my mugs. Casting and finishing are manual processes, so small variations are part of each piece.
03 · Surface
Color, texture, and painting
Geometric mugs pair sculptural patterns with layered glaze color. For hand-painted mugs, I draw and paint each artwork individually with underglazes, then apply a clear glaze over the decoration.

I’m drawn to functional pottery because it becomes part of the moments we repeat and remember. My current geometric and hand-painted mugs are microwave safe and dishwasher safe, made to be used and enjoyed.
Alongside my mugs, I also create hand-painted vases. Their forming process is different; the mug-making steps above describe my slipcast mugs.
